CoolTouch Non-ablative Thermescent Laser Skin Treatment

This new laser offers improvement of wrinkles without the downtime. The laser penetrates the skin, sparing the top layer, stimulating the production of new collagen which improves the appearance of wrinkles. The treatment is delivered in the office and takes only 20-30 minutes. There is minimal redness in the treated areas which resolves within a few hours.

The treatments are given every 3-4 weeks for a total of 3-5 treatments. Improvement has been demonstrated in wrinkles, superficial scarring, and skin texture. It is ideally used in people who have specific areas on the face where wrinkles are more obvious, and those who would like some treatment of their wrinkles without the risk, down-time, and pain associated with traditional laser resurfacing (ablative lasers which wound the skin and remove the top layers).

Since this laser treats the subsurface of the skin, we recommend that it be used in conjunction with other skin care regimens which can address the "external" changes in the skin which are seen with excessive sun exposure or aging (such as freckles and other sun-spots). We will be offering packages combining the Cooltouch laser with other facial rejuvenation techniques which we will gladly discuss at your consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Cooltouch laser hurt?
Prior to Cooltouch treatments, a topical anesthetic will be placed on the skin. This will minimize any discomfort. The Cooltouch delivers a short spray of cool air along with the laser pulse, so typically you might feel a spray and a slight snap.

Are there any special instructions prior to the treatment?
No - just stick with your regular skin care regimen. When you come into the office, the anesthetic gel will be applied and it takes 10-15 minutes to work. During this time, you will fill out some paperwork and digital photographs will be taken before the treatment which will be stored in our digital photography system.

Will I be able to go back to work after the treatment?
Yes, and you can apply makeup afterwards as well. Usually, there is minimal redness in the treated areas and this resolves completely in a few hours. You will not experience any pain later in the day or evening.

Will I see results right after the treatment?
No - this treatment system induces your skin to produce new collagen. This process takes time, usually on the order of 60-90 days to see improvement.
